Welcome to my teaching portfolio!
I think of teaching as a collaborative, mutually enriching experience: I teach my students skills and experiences that they can use outside of the classroom in various ways, from speaking, reading and listening in French to analytical and critical skills. In exchange, my students teach me, every day, how to become a better teacher and mentor, and how their experiences of campus and life fits into the narrative of our world. This helps me make an inclusive and comfortable classroom that has, in the past, helped students develop skills and advocate for themselves in ways that make me honored to have contributed to that.
Although I enjoy tremendously teaching French 100, and seeing the joy it can bring to students, my background in history, art history, gender studies, as well as my research and PhD in French Studies, allow me to teach a range of courses, from cultural and historical lectures to literary survey classes. I have experience teaching film, art, literature and French language, as well as building collaborative workshops.
Across the years, on both the European and American continents, I have taught a variety of audiences, from teenagers at the high school level to adults, including adults with learning disabilities and young adults in college.
Here, you will find my teaching philosophy statement, a list of the courses I have taught and a description of what they entailed, as well as examples of classes I hope to teach in the future, and sample activities and lesson plans from classes I have taught.
You will also find, for each class I have taught, feedback from students when available.
If you have any questions, please feel free to write me, contact information is in the CV section.
